Font Conference at College Humor

Font Conference

Andy sent me a link to this video today from College Humor. It’s super cheesy but Wingdings kinda made me laugh.

Do it!

Floating Poster Frame

After weighing the pros and cons of pre-made and professional frames, I decided to make my own. It also gave me an excuse to pry my eyes off the computer for the afternoon. The poster is sandwiched between two 23″x30″ acrylic sheets, held together with four aluminum binding posts, and has a galvanized wire for hanging.

PVC Guitar Stand

Since I’ve been living in apartments, I’ve been hesitant to use wall hangers for my guitars… which is my favorite option since it’s unobtrusive and decorative. But I saw this guide on Instructables for a multiple guitar stand and decided to give it a go. The cost of materials was roughly $15. It’s built like a rock, but I’m thinking about redo-ing it using Speed-Rail for a few different reasons:

  • Aesthetics
  • Durability
  • PVC may harm guitar finishes

Plus, I’ve always wanted to use Speed-Rail…

andrew le casual report // june 2008

I wanted to do something different with this/last month’s casual report in an attempt to broaden my horizons and keep you guys interested. The June edition of andrew le’s casual report is completely hand-drawn and scanned in, which will explain the poor quality. Just in case you missed it, you can check out the first casual report I did for May 2008.

View June’s report on flickr.

What the Font

Name that font!

It seems like every other day I’m asked to identify a font. But a lot of times, the typeface isn’t as easy to identify as… I don’t know.. say….. Papyrus or Comic Sans. Two of the sites that I use to aid in the process are:

What the Font - Identify a font using bitmap matching
Identifont - Identify a font through a series of questions

What the Font is only good if you can find/make an image with just black text on a white background. It’s more accurate than Identifont in my opinion. Keep in mind these aren’t always exact matches, so double check the results with the font in question. If you don’t come up with a good match, chances are it’s probably custom made.
